The "Deutsche Zollverein" or "German Customs Union" was a coalition of German states formed to manage customs and economic policies within their territories. They tried to create a common currency called "Vereinsthaler", local editions but valid in all German States.

Austria has been adapted to "Zollverein", Liechtenstein only temporarily (1862).
