1MV Cockcroft–Walton generator in the Science Museum, London
Built by Philips of Eindhoven in 1937, to a design from the Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge.
Note that this is not a particle accelerator. This generator supplied the accelerator, but that is not part of the display.
For many years, the generator was kept on display in the museum by firing a high voltage discharge, once a day.
