Humphrey Stafford, 1st Duke of Buckingham, 6th Earl of Stafford, 7th Baron Stafford (1402-1460), KG, was the only son of w:Edmund Stafford, 5th Earl of Stafford, by his wife w:Anne of Gloucester, the eldest daughter and eventual sole heiress of w:Thomas of Woodstock, 1st Duke of Gloucester (6th and youngest (but 5th surviving) son of King Edward III) by his wife w:Eleanor de Bohun, the elder daughter and co-heiress of w:Humphrey de Bohun, 7th Earl of Hereford. He married Anne Neville, a daughter of w:Ralph Neville, 1st Earl of Westmorland by his second wife Joan Beaufort, the youngest of the four legitimised children and only daughter of w:John of Gaunt, 1st Duke of Lancaster (3rd surviving son of King Edward III), by his mistress, later wife, Katherine Swynford
