-
Undifferenced arms as quartered by his heirs through female lines, Grey of Ruthin having become even before his lifetime the senior surviving line.
Henry Grey, 1st Duke of Kent, 12th Earl of Kent, seated at Wrest in Bedfordshire, was the last in the senior male line of Grey of Ruthin. His heirs through female lines, Robinson/"de Grey" (Earl de Grey) of Wrest, and Egerton (Earl of Bridgwater), quartered the arms of Grey undifferenced, the original arms adopted by w:Henry de Grey (1155-1219) of Grays Thurrock, Essex, founder of the English de Grey family. After his death the senior surviving male line became Grey, Earl of Stamford (extinct 1979), of the family of Grey of Groby, itself a cadet branch of Grey of Ruthin. Grey, Earl of Stamford also relinquished use of the difference of three torteaux
