Post-war late version of the Churchill AVRE (Armoured Vehicle Royal Engineers), based on a Churchill Mk.VII and in British Army service between 1954 and 1965. They were fitted with a breech-loading low velocity L9A1 165mm demolition gun, firing a 64lb HESH (High Explosive Squash Head) round designed to destroy bunkers and obstacles.
