English: The church was a simple nave church erected in 1805 by bishop Daniel Delany who resided in Tullow and dedicated the church to the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Tower and steeple were added in 1833 under the direction of the architect Thomas Cobden. The church was rededicated to Our Lady of the Rosary in 1875 by Cardinal Paul Cullen. Two side aisles were added in 1941, the sanctuary reordered in 1970, and a major renovation executed in 1987 to 1990 under the direction of the architect Patrick Campbell.
