Immediately to the north of the church of St. Stephen and covered by the same protective roof (an hence often mistaken for being part of the St Stephen's), the remains of another church can be seen, that was founded by Bishop Sergius in 587. Its figurative mosaics have been greatly damaged by iconoclasts. Though in its presbytery on either side of a medallion with the foundations text a lamb remained, and below that a young man with a horn of plenty, representing spring.
