Christiane L.J. Beerlandt (Turnhout, June 7, 1955 – Aalst, June 18, 2015) was a Belgian author and philosopher. She wrote a large number of books in the field of self-exploration, psychology, and philosophy

Life and Work

[edit]

By her own telling, Christiane Beerlandt “was born with an ability to feel herself into the inner world of people” and “always wanted to relieve suffering in others.” She lived in Flanders, which is the northern half of Belgium, a European country. Her mother tongue was Flemish, a variant of Dutch. She spent her childhood years in the town of Herentals. After studying art history at the University of Leuven, she moved to the town of Ostend in the eighties and started one of the first natural food stores in her country.

The Key to Self-Liberation
At the end of 1992 Christiane Beerlandt decided to become a full-time author. Her first book, written in Flemish Dutch language, came out in November 1993: “De Sleutel tot Zelf-Bevrijding – Encyclopedie van de Psychosomatiek” (English: “The Key to Self-Liberation – Encyclopedia of Psychosomatics”). It enlightens the psychological, emotional, metaphysical undercurrents of hundreds of diseases and ailments — trying to empower readers to solve detrimental patterns in themselves. Because of its immediate success, this thick reference book was translated into French (1997), English (2003), and German (2007).

Other works
Christiane Beerlandt wrote books about many other subjects, such as the deeper meaning of occurrences in one’s daily life, animal symbolism, the psychological origins of one’s spontaneous food preferences and aversions, the quest for true happiness, etc. She also wrote songs and produced drawings.

Between 1999 and 2015, Christiane Beerlandt toured extensively in Europe and Canada to give lectures to laypeople as well as to health professionals.

Legacy

[edit]

In 2019, “The Christiane Beerlandt Foundation” (“private foundation pursuing a disinterested purpose”) was established in order to ensure her legacy for the future.

In 2020, a 17-page chapter about the coronavirus pandemic was added to “The Key to Self-Liberation” for its second, enlarged edition.

As of 2021, 22 Christiane Beerlandt titles are available in Flemish Dutch, 11 in French, 2 in German, and 2 in English. Her work is published by the Beerlandt Publications Publishing House, which was founded by Dirk A.V.J. Lippens, a family physician. In 1999, he became her life companion. He is active in spreading her legacy.
