The dates in this cemetery range from 1881 to 1965. According to someone who lived at St. Patrick's as a child until the age of 12, most boys only stayed until the age of 10[1] and were then moved on to Clonmel, Dublin or Offaly. He presumes that the number of boys buried there is triple of what is recorded, partly because of the lack of deaths in certain years. According to him, the boys did not know of the burial ground at the time, and when a boy vanished, they were told they had gone home or on holidays.
