English: The House of the Lion (Casa del Leone - VI, ins. occid. 19-26) has also been known as the House of Polybius (Casa di Polibio) and the House with Three Floors (Casa a tre piani). The structure is one of the most extensive terraced merchant houses built in the southwest part of the city of Pompeii. First excavated by the Bourbons in 1764, it was severely damaged by allied bombing in 1943.
