The first Carvel-Dary Freeze concession in Allentown at 3051 Hamilton Boulevard in Dorneyville opened in March 1961. Eventually, there were three Carvel franchises in Allentown, one at the Mountainville Shopping Center (May 1972 - 1981) and another at 19th and Allen Street (Nov 1977 - 1990).

In March 1977, the Dorneyville Carvel closed and was sold to James (Jim) Schmoyer, who renamed it Ice Cream World. Schmoyer subsequently purchased the Flagg's Drive-In at 3512 Hamilton Boulevard in June 1977. Flaggs was closed in November 1979, and Ice Cream World moved into its former location. Ice Cream World is still open there today.

There were other Carvels in Bethlehem, Easton, Trexlertown, Quakertown and Whitehall. The former Dorneyville Carvel later became a rug store and a home video store. Finally closed up in 1990. The land was owned by Burger King but the old store remained unused. It was torn down in the 2010s
