Contrary to the descriptions on these photo's the guns in this category are Belgian 149 mm and not French 155 mm guns. They were also more than likely captured during WWI by Germany and not during the Franco-Prussian War. The Germans had breech-loading artillery during the Franco-Prussian war and the French still had muzzle-loading artillery. The breech-loading mechanism is an early version of the Krupp sliding wedge and the Belgians produced Krupp designs at their foundries under license. The closest German equivalent to this gun would probably be a 15 cm 24 pounder C/61 or C/64.
