English: The Calcutta was a barque, built 1860 with her originally name City of Calcutta by Alexander Stephen & Sons Glasgow (Yard No 27) for George Smith & Sons Glasgow. 1881 she was sold to Charles Barrie, Dundee and renamed Calcutta. Abandoned after springing a leak on 16/9/1895 off Staten Island in the South Atlantic, drove ashore and wrecked the next day on a voyage Huanillos for London with guano.
Her dimensions were: length × beam= 200 × 31 ft (60.9 × 9.4 m) and she had a tonnage of 967 GRT[1]
