Deutsch: Buchhandlung Walter G. Mühlau wurde 1902 direkt an der Universität Kiel in der Brunswiker Straße 22a von Walter Georg Mühlau eröffnet als Buch- und Musikalienhandlung, Verlag und Konzert-Direktion. Mühlau starb 1908 und sein Teilhaber Friedrich Heinrich Hunke (* 18. Februar 1879 in Detmold; † 4. März 1953 in Kiel) wurde Alleininhaber der Buchhandlung. Bei einem Luftangriff am 22. Mai 1944 vernichteten Bomben das gesamte Inventar und alle Bestände und Hunke verlegte sein Geschäft daraufhin in die Holtenauer Straße 73, musste aber im August aufgrund von Bombentreffern neue Schäden hinnehmen. 1951 bezog er Räume im Eckhaus Holtenauer Straße 116 (Ecke Beselerallee) inder Nähe der neuen Kieler Universität, wo er nun die „Universitätsbuchhandlung Walter G. Mühlau“ führte. Seine Tochter Waltraud Hunke führte die Universitätsbuchhandlung von 1953 bis 1978, danach wandelte sie das Geschäft in eine Kommanditgesellschaft um und übergab es an den Lübecker Inhaber von Gustav Weiland Nachf.. Später übernahm es Hugendubel.
English: Bookstore Walter G. Mühlau' was opened in 1902 directly at the University of Kiel at Brunswiker Straße 22a by Walter Georg Mühlau as a book and music store, publishing house and concert director. Mühlau died in 1908 and his partner Friedrich Heinrich Hunke (born February 18, 1879 in Dettmold; † March 4, 1953 in Kiel) became the sole owner of the bookstore. In an air raid on May 22, 1944, bombs destroyed the entire inventory and all stocks. Hunke moved his business to Holtenauer Straße 73, but suffered new damage in August due to bomb hits. In 1951 he moved in Holtenauer Straße 116 (corner of Beselerallee) near the new Kiel University, where he now ran the “Walter G. Mühlau University Bookstore”. His daughter Waltraud Hunke ran the university bookstore from 1953 to 1978, then she converted the business into a limited partnership and handed it over to the Lübeck owner of Gustav Weiland Nachf.. Later it was taken over by Hugendubel.
