Deutsch: Stadt Siegen, Nordrhein-Westfalen: Das Bronzemodell von Siegen, geschaffen vom Bildhauer Egbert Broerken, wurde im Jahr 2009 in der Fußgängerzone Kölner Straße öffentlich aufgestellt. Es stellt den Bereich der mittelalterlichen Kernstadt Siegens auf dem Siegberg („Oberstadt“) im heutigen Zustand dar. Das Modell ist in Braille beschriftet und soll unter dem Motto Siegen zum Fühlen, Sehen, Begreifen Blinde und Sehende bei der räumlichen Orientierung in der Stadt unterstützen.
English: City of Siegen, state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany: in the year 2009, this bronze scale model of Siegen, created by German sculptor Egbert Broerken, was publicly installed in the pedestrian zone Kölner Strasse. The sculpture depicts the area that once formed the medieval center of town (“uptown”) on the Siegberg mountain, in its current condition. The scale model’s purpose is to give a both visual and haptical impression of the city’s proportions and whereabouts. Blind people are guided by numerous labels in Braille type, providing information about specific buildings, streets and squares in Siegen.
