English: 5,736 GRT refrigerated cargo steamship Brodness: built by Hawthorn, Leslie of Newcastle in 1894 and launched as Banffshire for Turnbull, Martin & Co (Scottish Shire Line). Blue Star Line bought her in 1915 and renamed her Brodness. In 1917 the German submarine UC-38 sank her in the Tyrhennian Sea five miles off Anzio.
