English: The British Rail Class 143 is a diesel multiple unit used on railways in the UK. They are part of the pacer family of trains. The coaches are based on an Alexander bus body mounted on a chassis from a freight truck. They are sometimes known as "Nodding Donkeys" due to the bouncing that often happens when the train is in motion due to a lack of bogies. The lack of bogies also causes the trains to be very noisy on curves and when passing over points.
