Bower Wood is one of several small woods clustered together with fields and enclosures between them. Bower Wood is a deciduous wood with a clump of conifers in the middle. It is sited a kilometre or so to the north west of the hamlet of Crooked Soley although the wood is within the boundary of the town of Ramsbury.
