This cast iron post on Smithdown Road is a boundary marker dating from abt 1865, and marked the boundary between Toxteth Park parliamentary constituency and the Lower Brook, which was a stream which ran along Spofforth Road and Webster Road, and itself marked the boundary between the townships of Edge Hill and Wavertree.
