Border tartan is a very simple tartan pattern historically associated with the Anglo-Scottish Border, especially Scottish Borders and Northumbria/Northumberland. It is known by many names, including: Borders tartan, Northumbrian tartan, Northumberland tartan, shepherds' plaid, shepherds' check, Border drab, or Border check.
