The Chhatri of Boliya Sarkar is a mid 19th-century Hindu temple inspired monument built in the memory of Chimanaji Appa Saheb Boliya.
This is a memorial built by his parents, not a burial place. It stands on a jagati (platform) like a Hindu temple. It has a concentric mandapa that serves as an octagonal pradakshina-patha (circumambulation path) with an adhisthana and garbhagriya topped by a Rajput-Maratha style sikhara. The adhisthana has the square plan, while the sanctum is octagonal with Shiva linga. Near it is a memorial icon of Sardar Boliya. Outside is a Nandi. Arched gateways with paired pillars around are placed in the Amer style of Rajasthan (which reminds one of some elements of the Mughal architecture). The design arrangement includes uru and ang shringas. The artwork, nature motifs and arch-style has strong Maratha-era influences.
The Boliya Sarakar Chhatri is one of many chhatris in Indore.
