English: Ms. Bodley 264 is an illuminated manuscript written and illustrated between 1304, when the main part was completed, and ca. 1410, with the addenda. The codex was produced in Tournai, Belgium, on commission from an unknown family, probably a neighbour of the royal court of France (or a neighbour of the royal family), maybe Philip VI of France itself^[1].

Italiano: Il Manoscritto Bodley 264 è un codice miniato del XIV secolo, conservato alla Biblioteca Bodleiana dell'Università di Oxford. Il codice miniato contiene, tra l'altro, l'edizione interpolata, e più completa, del Roman d'Alexandre, oltre che un'edizione francese del Milione di Marco Polo. L'opera ha un grande valore letterario e filologico, dal momento che rappresenta un fondamentale tassello nella tradizione letteraria medievale su Alessandro Magno, ma il codice è importante anche per le sue miniature, notevoli non solo quali pregevolissime espressioni dell'arte medievale, ma anche come documentazioni delle credenze e dei valori fondamentali della cultura del tempo in cui l'opera fu prodotta^[2]
