Many species of bird have adapted well to the anthopogenic habitats (those created by humans), and Boulia Shire has several species in this category. Grain spread for the domestic and orphaned animals at the Boulia Wildlife Haven attracts wild brolgas, crested pigeons, galahs, house sparrows and little corellas. Australian ravens, black kites and yellow-throated miners pick up any scraps they can find around the town of Boulia. Galahs and little corellas roost each night in their hundreds and thousands on the overhead power lines of Boulia. Roads and road verges collect seed that is exploited by doves and finches. Roads also provide carrion in the form of road kill, which is exploited by eagles, hawks and ravens.
