The coastal town Senya Beraku (also: Berrecoe, Beracoe, Bercoe, Bereku, Berraku, Buraku, Berakui, Senia, Senya or in similar spelling) is located in the Awutu-Senya District of the Central Region of Ghana.
In precolonial times one has distinguished between "Little-Beraku" and "Great-Beraku". Little-Beraku was a village on the Western fringe area of swamps of the Densu River, and Great-Beraku was on the Eastern side. From the year 1614 these swamps were the border between the kingdom of Awutu (in the West) and the kingdom of Accra (in the East). Senya Beraku is the native name for Little-Beraku.
