Deutsch: Die Benefiziarier (auch Beneficiarier; lat.: beneficiarius, Plural beneficiarii; vom Lat. beneficium, Plural beneficia: „Vorteil, Wohltat“) waren eine Art Straßenpolizei im Römischen Reich.
English: A beneficarius (pl. beneficarii) was a position with various meanings in the Roman Empire. As early as the late Republic, a beneficarius was a soldier relieved of ordinary duty in order to serve a senior officer. The beneficarius consularis seems to have been a kind of intelligence officer on the frontiers. Beneficarii procuratoris served on the staff of a procurator, probably as tax collectors. A beneficarius was also a chief administrative officer in the ancient Roman navy.
