The Belgian-Genoese pattern was originally created by Grimaud of Paris around 1860. Distinguishing it from the older Paris pattern areː the Jack of Clubs has a roughly triangular, not oval, shield; on non-Belgian variants the maker's name replaces the traditional names on the courts; the dividing lines do not comprise circles with a central dot; green often replaces blue.‹ref›Pattern Sheet 80 at the IPCS website.
