English: The «Beecher Report» is named after Dr. Henry K. Beecher (1904-1976), a consultant to the Surgeon General of the U.S. Army at the end of the WWII and a Professor of Anesthesiology at Harvard University after the war. It contains a correspondence related to Beecher's European travels in 1951–1952 during his investigation of the mescaline and LSD as interrogation drugs. In September 1951, Beecher made a fact-finding trip to England, France, and Germany to consult medical researchers and U.S. officers. In Germany, Beecher visited Camp King, the home of the European Command Interrogation Center, and Haus Waldhof, a CIA-run secret prison, both near Frankfurt. He met with Camp King’s former staff doctor Dr. Schreiber, who in fact was General Walter Schreiber, former medical chief of the Wehrmacht. Beecher returned to Europe in August 1952 after obtaining «top secret» security clearance and a Pentagon grant to study LSD.
