English: The Bass Formation is the first (basal) unit of the 5-unit Unkar Group, (the basal group of the Grand Canyon Supergroup).
English: The lowermost member, Bass Formation, (also Bass Limestone-(formerly), of the en:Unkar Group.
- It is found in northeast Grand Canyon; also center (east) associated with Granite Gorge.
- Members of 5-unit Unkar Group:
5--en:Cardenas Basalt-(Cardenas Lava)-(cliff-former, "mountain islands"-(en:manadnock), Tapeats Sea)
4--Dox Formation-slopes
3--Shinumo Quartzite-(cliff-former, "mountain islands"-(en:manadnock), Tapeats Sea)
2--en:Hakatai Shale-slopes
1--en:Bass Formation-slopes
- It is found in northeast Grand Canyon; also center (east) associated with Granite Gorge.
- Multi-colored slopes are created, for example at Isis Temple (Bright Angel Canyon region), and also contain debris from the Shinumo cliffs, or other geologic units above.
