Hidden behind columns of the western portico (shown on some pictures) is a continuous mosaic (34,5 x 7,3 m.) representing the (local) River Barada with scenes of settlements and trees along its sides. It's from the foundation (early 8th century) period, with some repairs under Baybars (late 13the century).
