English: Ballot marking devices are devices that record votes on some physical medium that the voter then carries to a ballot box. A ballot tabulator or scanner may record the ballot as it is deposited in the box, or ballot boxes may be carried to a central location for tabulation. The physical medium may be paper, as in optical scan voting systems or an electronic medium, and the record may be human readable or not. Please do not use this category for DRE voting machines, where the votes are recorded and tabulated by the same machine.
