The Balaghat Range is a group of hills in western Maharashtra, India. They begin in the Western Ghats at the Harishchandra Range, then extend southeastward for about 300 kilometers to the border of Maharashtra and Karnataka states, near the Bhima river. They are narrow, their width varying between 5 to 10 kilometers, acting as a watershed between the Godavari and Bhima rivers. They are generally flat topped, highest in the west at about 2700 feet, their elevation decreases eastward with saddles separating them. They are home to some historic Hindu, Buddhist and Jain caves and other monuments.
