English: BT Statesman telephone. A design of the early 1980s, one of the first "next generation" commodity telephones to be designed from the outset with modern electronic manufacturing methods, rather than the 1960s electromechanical techniques of the earlier Telephone 746. The Statesman was not repairable on site, and was broadly unrepairable, but was designed instead to be swapped out and replaced for almost any fault.
