[In English: 四阿 [Azumaya, or Shia], or 東屋 [Azumaya] in Japanese is a simple building set up in a garden or the like for the purpose of viewing or resting. The "阿" [a] in "四阿" [Shia] means eaves, and it means a building with a roof, such as a hip roof (寄棟 [yosemune]) with eaves lowered on all sides, or a tented roof (宝形造 [hōgyōzukuri]) style. It is also called "亭" [Chin] (Paviliun Tiongkok) in Chinese style. The Japanese native word "あずまや" [Azumaya] means a rustic building in the style of the eastern Japan before modern times (東国 [Azumanokuni]). ]
