English: The DL class are an Australian diesel electric locomotives ordered by Australian National in 1987. Clyde Engineering of Kelso were issued a contract for 15 diesel-electric locomotives, of a local design using imported EMD engines and traction equipment. Introduced in 1988, they have been working on mainline/intercapital freight traffic on standard gauge.
