Attack Squadron 44 (VA-44) were several aviation units of the United States Navy. History:
1 June 1945: established as Bombing Squadron VB-75 "Vee Bee";
15 November 1946: redesignated VA-3B "Indians";
1 September 1948: redesignated VA-44 "Scarlet Knights";
8 June 1950: disestablished.
1 September 1950: established as Fighter Squadron 44 (VF-44) "Hornets";
1 January 1956: redesignated VA-44;
1 June 1958: became Fleet Replacement Squadron;
1 May 1970: disestablished.
