The Astor House Building, also known as the Astor Office Building or the Astor Building, at 217 Broadway at the corner of Vesey Street, was built in 1915-16 and was designed by Marc Eidlitz & Sons. It replaced half of the Astor House hotel and restaurant built in 1836. The northern half of the old building was demolished in 1926 and replaced by the Transportation Building.
