The Polish Vasas inherited the fine collection of armour of King Sigismund Augustus. The King had 20 parade armours, among which one with beautiful sculpture and silver-lined figures, expressing all the victories of his ancestors over the Muscovy. Sigismund III had a particularly rich collection of Oriental arms and Władysław IV had a rich collection of armour, including one black armour made in France. |
