English: Ardnaree friary was founded as a house of Augustinian friars before 1400 by the O'Dowda family who took possession of Ardnaree in 1371. The friars are assumed to have been kept the friary in posession until 1577–82 much like Rathfran and Moyne. The site neighbors St. Muredach's Cathedral. (See Gwynn and Hadcock, Religious Medieval Houses in Ireland, p. 295–296.)
