English: The Archbold Expeditions to New Guinea are named after Richard Archbold (1907–1976), an American zoologist and explorer. He co-led the 1933-34 expedition to south-eastern New Guinea, and financed the 1936-37 expedition to southern New Guinea (Daru, Fly River, Palmer River, Wassi Kussa), and the 1938-39 expedition to Netherlands New Guinea (north slope Snow Mountains, Idenburg River).
