For decades, Anderson's Diner was located at 920 Union Boulevard in eastern Allentown. It was a family business, located at the southeast corner of Union Boulevard and Irving Street.

It opened in June 1940 as the Irving Diner by Elmer J Anderson, a World War I veteran. The original diner was a 1940 Jerry Mahony manufactured Diner. Elmer Anderson passed in May 1951, the business taken over by his sons, William E and James A Anderson. Renamed Anderson's Diner in in August 1954. In July 1955 the original diner was replaced by a new Mahony manufactured diner. The diner was expanded in June 1961 by adding a 1960 Fodero manufactured Dining Room.

James Anderson retired in 1978, William in December 1982. The diner was subsequently sold to Stelios (Chris) Kyrkopoulos who operated it as Chris's Family Restaurant until June 1991 when it was again sold. It lastly became Izzy's Family Restaurant, Later Izzy's Family Diner. The diner closed in 2017, and was subsequently torn down.

James Anderson retired from the business in 1978, he was a Korean War veteran, he passed in June 2017. His brother William was a B-29 navigator during World War II. He passed in January 2011
