English: The Amsterdam Armory, also known as the Amsterdam Castle, located at 49 Florida Avenue at the intersection with Dewitt Street in Amsterdam, New York, is a former National Guard armory built in 1895 by Isaac G. Perry in the castlellated Late Victorian style for the 46th Separate Company of the New York Army National Guard, originally so that its volunteer members could protect the Mohawk River bridge and rail yards from social or labor disputes. The company was engaged in the Spanish American War, in the Pancho Villa Punitive Expredition, World War I, and World War II, although the disgnation of the commpand changed throughout the years. The armory was decommissioned in 1994 and is now a private residence and bed & breakfast inn. (Source: [1])
