Deutsch: Mit Altneubau werden etwa zwischen 1950 und etwa 1965 in der DDR neuerrichtete meist viergeschossige Wohnhäuser genannt. Es handelt sich um Typenbauten, welche aber noch in Stein-auf-Stein-Bauweise oder später mit großformatigen Blöcken errichtet wurden – es sind noch keine Plattenbauten.
English: Altneubau (old new housing) describes apartment buildings in East Germany, built between 1950 and 1965. These standardized constructions have usually four storeys and gabled roofs. In contrast to the later Plattenbau (Neubau) the are constructed in brick on brick method.
