Alkylidene groups are functional groups formally derived from alkanes by replacement of two hydrogen atom with formation of a double bond with other atoms or groups of atoms. Alkylidene groups have the general formula CnH2n. Alkylidene groups are found in alkylidene compounds, which have the general formula CnH2nX, where X is any chemical element or group.
