English: The Alexander Melville Bell House is located at 1527 35th Street NW in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. It was built in 1854 and purchased by Alexander Graham Bell in 1881 for his father, Alexander Melville Bell. The rear carriage house was used as a laboratory by the younger Bell until the Volta Bureau was built across the street. After the elder Bell died, the house was used as a library and laboratory space. The building is listed on the District of Columbia Inventory of Historic Sites and is a contributing property to the Georgetown Historic District.
