Albion (ship, 1819) The modern era of "liners" was established by the |Black Ball Line which began operation in 1818.
AMERICAN SHIP ‘ALBION’ AND ‘THE JOINERS ARMS,’ ENGLISH CREAMWARE BLACK TRANSFER-PRINTED PRESENTATION JUG, STAFFORDSHIRE OR LIVERPOOL, 1819-23. Printed under the spout in black enamel "TO MR. SHARP" within a printed ribbon-tied berried laurel branch and wheat stalk, printed and heightened in enamels on one side with a portrait of the ship "ALBION," and printed on the reverse with "THE JOINERS ARMS" and motto "JOIN TRUTH WITH TRUST." Height 9 inches.Built in 1819, the packet ship "Albion" was of the Liverpool Black Ball Line, operating between New York and Liverpool. She was wrecked off the coast of Ireland, near Kinsale, April 25, 1822, with a loss of forty-six lives.
