The Accles drum magazine for the 1883 Gatling gun, a manually-cranked repeating gun. This was the first 'snail' drum magazine, where a spiral track in the drum had the found fed along it by a rotating 'spider'.[1] Although successful in exercises, the magazine was fragile in service and soon replaced by the earlier 'Bruce' linear hopper feed.
