Русский: Комплекс зданий президиума, библиотеки и музеев АН СССР планировался к постройке в районе Якиманка, на участках нынешнего ЦДХ (Новой Третьяковки) и Музеона. А в 1930-е годы там располагались пустыри и стадион. Проект А. В. Щусева 1939 года был принят к постройке, и на Крымском Валу началось фактическое строительство музейного корпуса. Летом 1941 года оно было заморожено и более не возобновлялось. В 1960-е годы на заброшенной стройплощадке начали возводить здание ЦДХ (который строили чуть ли не двадцать лет), а Президиум АН СССР построили на Ленгорах (и там тоже был двадцатилетний долгострой).
English: The Academy of Sciences compound in Moscow (present-day Yakimanka district) was designed by Alexey Shchusev in 1938-1939 as a junior "companion" to the nearby Palace of Soviets tower. Just like the latter, construction of the Academy was terminated in June 1941 and never resumed. Sources differ on the scope of work actually done; the 1951 city plan shows one southernmost wing standing. In 1960 the site was redesigned for a large exhibition hall, that would take another twenty years to complete. The hall ("New Tretyakov" or the "Central House of Artists") occupies around half of the unbuilt Academy's footprint; the rest is public park.
