Poiché costui è noto per avere inglobato nel proprio catalogo anche qualche scatto di altri artisti non più in attività, è possibile che questo nucleo sia stato acquistato da un altro fotografo, oppure che in alternativa sia stato creato espressamente per accontentare le esigenze della clientale di artisti come pittori o scultori. Va notato fra l'altro che i modelli maschili appartengono alla tipologia dei "culturisti", dal fisico più adatto a certa arte celebrativa di moda all'epoca.
  • English: In Wilhelm von Gloeden's (1856–1931) catalogue appear a set of Academic images, shot against a black background (a rather unusual choice for Gloeden), that go against the usual "pictorialist" approach by this artist. Since Gloeden entered a few shots by other artists (no longer active) in his catalogue, it is possible that these image were not taken by Gloeden or that they were created on purpose to be marketed at visual artists (painters and sculptors). It deserves to be noticed that the male models posing in these images are "strongmen" (bodybuilders), whose physique was apter for a certain celebratory art which was fashionable back then.
