English: 573 South Van Ness Avenue, located between 16th and 17th Street in the Mission District of San Francisco, California, was built in 1895 in the Queen Anne Victorian style; the architect is unknown. In 1900 it was the home of brewer Peter Windler, and was part of a neighborhood of mansions and luxury houses. Fifty of these, including 573, survived the earthquake and fire of 1906, but they did not survive the re-zoning of the area for industrial use in the 1930s. Today, 573 South Van Ness, with its round corner tower and porthole windows, is an apartment building. (Source: John King Cityscapes2 (2015))
