English: 46 footers was a class for racing sailboats with a Load Waterline Length of forty-six feet. It was created in 1891 to replace the now mature 40 footer class. Nathanael Herreshoff's sloop design Gloriana (1891) dominated all competition from the onset and her Wasp (1892) development established him as the reference designer for racing yachts for the three subsequent decades.
